FAQ

Questions,answered.

Short, complete answers about the app, the plans and your files.

The basics

What is Sceed?

Sceed is a screen recorder and editor for Windows 10 and 11. It records a window, an area or a whole monitor, then finishes the video in the same app: a smoothed cursor, zooms, a camera bubble, frames and backgrounds, effects, sections, and export up to 4K at 60 frames a second.

Who makes Sceed?

Sceed is a product of Digital Dusk VFX Private Limited, a company based in Hyderabad, India. You can reach the team at hello@sceed.io.

Is Sceed free?

Sceed has a free plan that records, edits and exports. Free exports run up to three minutes and carry a small Sceed mark. Sceed Pro removes the limit and the mark and unlocks every effect, camera look, section and text overlay, for $25 a month or $115 a year.

What does Sceed run on?

Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11. It does not run on Mac, Linux, phones or in a browser.

Is Sceed a Screen Studio for Windows?

That is a fair short description. Like Screen Studio on the Mac, Sceed records without the cursor, draws a smooth one back, and adds zooms, a camera and a background so the recording looks produced. Sceed is Windows only, and it adds sections, region effects and a timeline editor.

How is Sceed different from OBS Studio?

OBS Studio is a free capture and live-streaming tool that produces a raw recording to edit elsewhere. Sceed does not stream. It records and then edits in the same app, with cursor smoothing, zooms, frames and effects that OBS does not have.

How is Sceed different from Loom?

Loom records and uploads to its cloud so you can send a link quickly. Sceed keeps recordings on your own disk, has a full editor, and exports a file. Choose Loom for a quick message, Sceed for a video that should look finished or must stay on your machine.

Recording

What can Sceed record?

Any open window, an area you drag, or a whole monitor, at up to 60 frames a second, with the microphone, the computer’s own sound and a webcam.

Does Sceed record system audio?

Yes. Sceed records the computer’s sound and the microphone as two separate tracks, so each can be levelled or muted after the take.

Can Sceed record my webcam at the same time as the screen?

Yes. The webcam is recorded as its own layer, so its position, size, shape and look can be changed in the editor.

Does Sceed work with more than one monitor?

Yes. You can record any monitor, or a window on any monitor.

Is there a limit on how long I can record?

No. The free plan limits the length of an export to three minutes, not the length of a recording.

Can I start and stop recording with a keyboard shortcut?

Yes. Ctrl + Alt + R starts and stops a recording and Ctrl + Alt + P pauses it, from any app. Both can be changed in Settings.

Does Sceed have a teleprompter?

Yes. A script window floats on top of your other windows while you record and is left out of the recording.

Can Sceed record games?

Sceed can record a game window, but it is designed for apps, browsers, tutorials and demos. For streaming and competitive game capture, OBS Studio is the better choice.

Can I live stream with Sceed?

No. Sceed records, edits and exports files. It does not stream.

Editing

Does Sceed zoom automatically?

Sceed does not add zooms automatically on clicks. You place zoom blocks on the timeline, and inside a block the camera can follow the cursor by itself, zoom on one point, or visit several numbered points.

How does cursor smoothing work in Sceed?

Sceed records the screen without the mouse pointer and saves the pointer’s path and clicks separately. The editor draws a new cursor along a smoothed version of that path, which is why the cursor can also be resized, restyled, recoloured or hidden after recording.

Can I blur private information?

Yes. Privacy blur is in the free plan: drag a box over the detail on the preview and set how long it lasts on the timeline. The blur is baked into the export.

Does Sceed make captions or subtitles?

No. Sceed does not generate captions. You can add text overlays by hand, or use the captions of the platform you upload to.

Can I edit a video I recorded with another app?

You can add any video to a Sceed project as a clip section. Cursor smoothing and cursor styles only work on recordings made with Sceed, because they need the pointer’s path.

Can I make vertical or square videos?

Yes. The canvas can be wide, square or vertical, and the same recording re-lays itself out for each.

Can I save my style and reuse it?

Yes. Save the background, frame, cursor and camera settings as a look, share the file with others, and make it the default for new recordings.

Does Sceed use AI?

No. Sceed does not send your recordings to any AI service, and its editing features run on your computer.

Exporting

What formats does Sceed export?

H.264 MP4 at up to 4K and 60 frames a second, and animated GIF from 480 to 1080 pixels wide.

Is there a watermark?

Exports on the free plan carry a small "Made with Sceed" mark. Sceed Pro exports have no mark.

Can the free plan export in 4K?

Yes. Free exports can be any resolution up to 4K at 60 frames a second. They run up to three minutes and carry a small mark.

How fast is exporting?

Exports are encoded by the graphics card, so most finish faster than the video’s own length. You can hide the export dialog and keep working while it runs.

Does Sceed give me a share link?

No. Sceed writes a file to your disk. Upload it wherever your audience already watches video.

Plans and billing

Is it Windows only?

Yes. Sceed is built for Windows 10 and 11 on Windows Graphics Capture and Media Foundation. That is the whole point: the Mac apps do not run here, and now you do not need them.

What do I get for free?

The recorder and the editor: any window, area or monitor, frames and backgrounds, a smoothed cursor, zooms, a camera bubble, pop-out and privacy blur. Free exports run up to three minutes and carry a small Sceed mark. Pro removes the limit and the mark and unlocks every effect, camera look, section and text overlay.

Do I need an account?

A free one. You sign in once from the app through your browser, and that is what carries your plan to the machine. No card is asked for until you choose Pro.

How do I pay, and can I cancel?

Monthly or yearly, by card, through Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Cancel any time from the members page; you keep Pro to the end of the period you paid for.

What about refunds?

Every paid plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Write to hello@sceed.io within 14 days of the first payment and you get it back in full.

Can I use it commercially?

Yes. Anything you record and export with Sceed is yours to use however you like, including in paid courses, ads and client work.

Do you offer team licences?

Yes. Every seat gets every feature. Write to hello@sceed.io for more than five seats.

What about Mac?

Not planned. The Mac already has good options. Sceed exists so Windows has one too.

Files and privacy

Where are my recordings?

In the Sceed folder inside your Videos folder, unless you chose another folder in Settings. Each recording is a plain folder of files: the video, the audio lanes, the cursor track and a small project file.

Can I move the recordings folder?

Yes. Open Settings (the gear in the studio sidebar) and choose a recordings folder. New recordings go there.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Recording, editing and exporting all happen on your computer. The app only talks to sceed.io to check your sign-in, your plan and whether there is an update.

Why is there no cursor in the raw video file?

By design. Sceed records the screen without the pointer and stores its path separately, which is what lets the cursor be smoothed, restyled or hidden afterwards. The export has the cursor drawn in.

Can I open a recording made on another PC?

Yes. Copy the recording’s folder across, then use the + in the library to import it. It needs to be a Sceed recording, because a plain video has no cursor track.

When something is wrong

Windows SmartScreen blocked the installer.

Choose More info, then Run anyway. The warning appears for new apps that Windows has not seen often yet. The installer is the one linked from sceed.io/download and nowhere else.

The app says it could not reach sceed.io.

Check the connection, then press Check again. A firewall or a VPN that blocks sceed.io will cause this. Once you have signed in, Sceed keeps working offline for seven days between checks.

The browser signed me in but the app is still waiting.

Go back to the app and press Open the browser again. If Windows asks whether to open the link in Sceed, allow it. Only one copy of Sceed should be running.

I bought Pro but the app still shows the free plan.

Open the account menu in the app and press Check again. If it still shows free, open sceed.io/members and press Refresh on your plan card, then check again in the app.

My export stops at three minutes, or has a mark on it.

That is the free plan: exports run up to three minutes with a small Sceed mark. Sceed Pro removes both.

The microphone or the camera is not listed.

Open Windows Settings, Privacy and security, and allow desktop apps to use the microphone and the camera. Then reopen the recorder. Another app holding the camera will also keep it from Sceed.

There is no system sound in the recording.

Make sure System audio is switched on in the recorder before you press Record, and that sound is playing through the default output device.

The export is slow.

Exports use your graphics card’s video encoder. Update the graphics driver, close other apps that use the GPU, and prefer High over Ultra. On a laptop, plug it in.

The recording looks soft.

Record at the display’s own resolution and export at the same size or larger. Switch on Sharpen in the export dialog for small text.

How do I update?

When a new version is out, an Update button appears in the library sidebar. Press it, then Update and restart. Sceed closes, installs and reopens.

How do I sign this computer out?

In the app, open the account menu and sign out. Or on sceed.io, open Account, then Sceed app, and sign out any computer from there.

How do I uninstall Sceed?

Windows Settings, Apps, Installed apps, Sceed, Uninstall. Your recordings are not deleted.

Not here?

Write to hello@sceed.io, or look through the guides and the help page.

Record it once. Ship it finished.
