How to record your screen and webcam at the same time on Windows
Record the screen and your camera together on Windows, then choose where your face goes: a bubble in the corner, side by side, or full screen.

To record the screen and webcam together on Windows you need a recorder that captures both; the Snipping Tool and Game Bar do not record a camera. In Sceed, switch the camera on before you record. It is saved as its own layer, so you can move the bubble, change its shape, put it side by side with the screen, or hide it, after the take.
Why record the camera as a layer
Many recorders burn the camera into the picture. Wherever the bubble was when you recorded is where it stays, even when it covers the button you are talking about. A recorder that keeps the camera as a separate layer lets you decide afterwards.
In Sceed the camera is a layer on the timeline. You can drag the bubble on the preview, resize it, and change its look per section of the video. The bubble can step aside when the cursor comes near and hide while the picture is zoomed in.
Where to put your face
A bubble in the corner for tutorials and walkthroughs. The screen is the subject; you are the company.
Side by side when what you say matters as much as what is on screen, like a pitch or a review.
Full screen for the first and last few seconds: say hello, then hand over to the screen.
Off for anything that will be watched many times, like documentation.
Looking good on a webcam
Face a window or a lamp. Light from behind turns you into a silhouette.
Raise the camera to eye level. A laptop on the desk looks up your nose.
Look at the lens when you make a point, not at your own picture.
A plain wall beats a busy room.
Other ways on Windows
Cloud recorders such as Loom record a screen and camera bubble and give you a link; the video lives on their servers. OBS Studio can place a camera source over a screen source, burned into one picture. See Sceed vs Loom and Sceed vs OBS Studio for the differences.
With Sceed, step by step
- 1
Switch the camera on
In the Sceed recorder, switch the webcam on. A preview appears under the device bar. Use Mirror if you want to see yourself the way a mirror shows you.
- 2
Frame yourself
Sit so your eyes are in the top third of the preview, with the light in front of you rather than behind.
- 3
Record
Press Record. The screen and the camera are recorded together as separate layers.
- 4
Choose a look
In the editor, open Camera and pick a look: a bubble in a corner, a rounded card, side by side, or full screen.
- 5
Change it through the video
Add camera blocks on the timeline to use a different look for the intro, the walkthrough and the sign-off.

Questions
Can the Windows Snipping Tool record my webcam?
No. Neither the Snipping Tool nor Xbox Game Bar records a webcam alongside the screen.
Can I move the camera bubble after recording?
In Sceed, yes. The camera is its own layer, so its position, size, shape and look can all change after the take.
Can I record only the webcam?
Sceed is a screen recorder, so a take always includes the screen. You can show the camera full screen for any part of the video with a Pro camera look.
Which camera looks are free?
The bubble and side by side are in the free plan. The one-click looks and full screen need Sceed Pro.
