What is 1080p?

Also called: Full HD, FHD

Definition

1080p is a video resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, also called Full HD.

It is the most common size for screen recordings and online video. It is sharp enough for most interfaces when the app window is sized sensibly, and produces much smaller files than 4K.

The "p" stands for progressive: every frame is a complete picture. A 1080p frame holds about two million pixels. On a 1080p display, record at that size and export at that size; enlarging it to 4K afterwards adds file size, not detail.
