What is resolution?

Definition

Resolution is the number of pixels in each frame of a video, written as width × height, for example 1920 × 1080.

More pixels hold more detail. Common sizes are 1080p (1920 × 1080), 1440p (2560 × 1440) and 4K (3840 × 2160).

A screen recording’s resolution is set by the screen: you cannot capture more pixels than the display shows. Exporting larger than the recording enlarges it without adding detail.
