What is a spotlight?
Also called: focus effect, dim background, highlight region
Definition
A spotlight dims or blurs everything in the frame except one region, so attention goes to that region.
It is a stronger cue than a callout: instead of adding something, it takes the rest of the screen away. It works well when the interface is busy and one panel matters.
In Sceed
Sceed has spotlight, focus (blur the rest) and dim effects for a region.
