Cursor smoothing and cursor styles

The cursor is drawn afterwards, so it can be changed. Sceed records the screen without the pointer and draws its own. Everything about it stays editable.

In short

Sceed captures the screen without the mouse pointer and logs the pointer’s path and clicks separately. The editor draws a new cursor along a smoothed path, so a shaky hand becomes a glide. Because the cursor is drawn, its size, look and colour can be changed, or it can be hidden, after the take.

Why it has to be recorded this way

When a recorder films the pointer as part of the screen, the cursor is just pixels and cannot be changed. Recording it separately makes it an object the editor controls. See what cursor smoothing is.

Smoothing

One slider, on by default. Small shakes and corrections are filtered out; the pointer still reaches every click at the right moment.

Looks, size and colour

Choose a look (arrow, dark, Mac-style, pointer, hand and more), set the size, and recolour the fill and outline. Hide the cursor entirely or have it fade when it stops moving. A custom picture as the cursor is part of Pro.

Effects and sounds

Pro adds effects that follow the pointer (a comet trail, a halo, a spotlight, a ring, echoes, sparkles, a soft shadow) and click effects (a ripple, a burst, a bump). Click sounds, a soft tick on each click mixed into the export, are free.

Questions

Is cursor smoothing free?

Yes. Smoothing, looks, size, colour and hiding are in the free plan. Cursor effects, click effects and a custom cursor picture are Pro.

Why is there no cursor in the raw recording file?

By design. The pointer is stored as a path beside the video and drawn in by the editor. The exported video has the cursor.

Can I smooth the cursor in a video from another recorder?

No. The pointer’s path has to be recorded separately, which Sceed does while recording.
